John Vik

Building Envelope Technologist

John Vik brings over 20 years of field-based background in the construction renovation industry to Building Envelope Technology & Research. Having worked hands-on in the trade as a skilled carpenter, foreman, and supervisor, he combines a practical and real-world approach with the most recent advances in building envelope science and technology. Mr. Vik brings to our clients his first-rate project administration skills, a detailed and scientific approach to envelope issues, intimate familiarity with residential, institutional, and commercial buildings and systems, as well as advanced expertise in complex detail design.

Mr. Vik is one of BET&Rís Certified Infrared Thermographers, is a specialist in AutoCAD and building envelope design work, and works closely and actively with our Laboratory and Testing staff to continue to enhance and expand our diagnostic equipment, tools, and resources, including developing BET&Rís AAMA- and ASTM-compliant window and skylight water testing protocols. Mr. Vik volunteers teaching practical math and carpentry to elementary school-aged children, and studied architecture at the University of Washington.
